Our Story

We believed that although there were hundreds of fashion brands out there, men's fashion was still quite understated. We found that you could either pay $50 for low-quality jeans that were short-lived or pay upwards of $120 at certain stores. 

We’d find ourselves looking at brands overseas in the UK and US. There was hundreds of different styles and so many more options. However... when we’d shop locally, we struggled to find streetwear that was exactly what we wanted. 

It was here that we believe we discovered a gap in the Australian Men's fashion market and decided to make a change. We wanted to design and produce clothing that not only we would wear, but friends, family and everyone else would love.

Our goal was; to produce premium quality menswear without the huge price tag.

Now... from the outside looking in, starting your own fashion label might seem simple!
Choose a style of jeans, stick a label on it and bang, you’ve got a brand. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as it sounds.

For two mates with next to no idea about fashion, other than knowing what we liked, this was daunting.

We had been following fashion pages for years and we had an idea of what we wanted to create.

First of all, we had to create our designs. To do this we needed to  teach ourselves how to use Adobe and become "designers" and we created our first-ever “tech-packs”.

For those of you that have no idea what that is, “A tech pack" is an informative sheet that designers create to communicate with a manufacturer, with all of the necessary components needed to construct a product.

Next... we had to find a supplier to make our designs come to life. After countless conversations with potential manufacturers, we finally found a few that we believed could provide a service up to our standard.

Our manufacturers were amazing and made the process easy. We sent off our designs, and after several messages back and forth, we had agreed on our first-ever samples.

Several weeks later, our samples arrived. It’s inspiring to see something you’ve thought of in your brain come to life. However, just like we had expected, we needed to make changes. 

We sent off our changes and after multiple photos and a few more quality tests, we received our final samples. Now! We were ready to make our bulk order and launch!

This was until we received a “random” Instagram DM. 

You see, before La Haute, we had originally called our brand 'Clique'.

The name "Clique", to us seemed universal.

The DM stated that someone had trademarked our business name. Even better, they had started 3 weeks after us and their logo was almost identical to ours. Their social media had been set up that day and they had no website, no samples, NOTHING.

Now don’t get me wrong, the first thing anyone should do when starting a business is;
1. Check your business name and social media handles
2. Make sure there is no copyright or trademark under the same name.

However.... us being naive, decided no one would ever use such a “unique” name as "CLIQUE"… 

At the time, we thought a simple DM couldn’t mean much. However, after speaking with our Lawyer and a few friends in the industry, we realised that in the long run the name “Clique” wasn’t going to cut it.

Now, this isn’t a sob story, it was a blessing.
First of all, “Mr Clique” is still currently inactive and still has not produced a single piece of content. Secondly, we always loved the name La Haute. 

Today, finally, we are about to release La Haute and we couldn’t be more confident in the brand.

We have spent hours perfecting our products and are confident that our clothes are the most comfortable and affordable in the market.

To every single person that has followed, DM’d or supported us so far, we would like to personally thank you all. Without you, we wouldn’t be as focused as we are to provide premium quality at unseen prices.

We are looking forward to a successful and positive future and look forward to building and expanding La Haute.

UPDATE - August 2021

Wow. What a couple of years it has been.

When we launched La Haute, we started out with 5 styles of jeans. Now, we offer a variety of unique styles such as Skinny Jeans, Ripped Jeans, Cargo Pants, and Denim Shorts

At that time, Tim and I both had other full-time commitments, which meant La Haute wasn't our #1 focus. 
We would work our day jobs, come home, pack orders and then attend to all of the other "stuff".

Over the next year, we spent a lot of time learning everything from, customer support, design, manufacturing, shipping, packing and marketing.
We really were "in the trenches".

Slowly, but surely, we ticked along and finally decided to take the leap and focus full time on La Haute.

Over the next 8 months, La Haute really started to grow and we have exceeded anything we could have ever imagined.

Our collection has has gone from 6 styles of pants, to releasing over 80 different items. From t-shirts, skinny jeans, ripped jeans, cargo pants, denim shorts  caps, jackets, shorts, tracksuits and shirts.

Over 15,000 of our products have been sold to Australia, New Zealand, America, London and even Malaysia.

We outgrew the bedroom, another spare room and our original warehouse.

Most importantly though, we have received thousands of positive messages, comments and reviews from our amazing customers.

There have been a lot of ups and downs over the last couple of years.
However, YOU are the reason we continue to grow. 

Without you all, La Haute wouldn't be anything.

Our goal is to be a go-to brand for mens fashion and we truly believe that we can do it with your support.
